Control banding (CB) strategies offer simplified solutions for controlling worker exposures to constituents that are found in the workplace in the absence of firm toxicological and exposure data. We are a team of ES&H professionals working at LLNL to develop, implement, verify, and validate these qualitative risk assessment applications. This includes designing CB toolkits like the CB Nanotool, a quantitatively validated approach used by both experts and non-experts to assess risks with nanotechnology operations and prescribe appropriate engineering controls. Access CB Nanotool applications by clicking “Download.”
Our team is also creating multidisciplinary approaches like our Risk Level Based Management System, providing quantitative validation of applied CB methods after 10 years of application. Please click “Resources” for links to our quantitative validation efforts and expanding CB application publications that continue to garner national and international attention.
